1. Manuscript Structure

1.1 Title Page

  • Title: Clear, concise, and centered in bold.
  • Author Information:
    • Full names of all authors.
    • Institutional affiliations.
    • ORCID ID (if available).
    • Corresponding author: Name, email, and contact information.
  • Author Note (optional): Any disclosure or acknowledgment.

1.2 Abstract

  • Limit: 150-250 words.
  • Should summarize the research question, methodology, main findings, and conclusions.
  • Do not use citations.
  • Below the abstract, provide 3-5 keywords.

1.3 Main Text

  • Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.
  • Line spacing: Double-spaced throughout the manuscript.
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
  • Indentation: First line of every paragraph should be indented 0.5 inches.
  • Headings: Use the following APA heading styles:

Level 1 Heading (Centered, Bold)

Text begins as a new paragraph.

Level 2 Heading (Left-Aligned, Bold)

Text begins as a new paragraph.

Level 3 Heading (Left-Aligned, Bold Italic)

Text begins as a new paragraph.

Level 4 Heading (Indented, Bold)

Text begins on the same line as the heading.

Level 5 Heading (Indented, Bold Italic)

Text begins on the same line as the heading.

1.4 References

  • Follow APA (7th Edition) guidelines for citations and references.
  • In-text citations must include the author(s) last name and publication year: (Smith, 2020).
  • List all references at the end of the manuscript in alphabetical order.
  • Example Reference Formats:
    • Journal Article:
    • Book:
      • Author, A. A. (Year). Title of work: Capital letter also for subtitle. Publisher.
    • Website:
      • Author, A. A. (Year, Month Day). Title of work. Site Name. URL

1.5 Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively (Table 1, Figure 1, etc.).
  • Provide a brief title and caption for each.
  • Use legible fonts and ensure all figures are of high quality.
  • Place tables/figures within the text close to where they are referenced, with a descriptive title.

2. Specific APA Style Requirements

2.1 Citation Format

  • In-text citations:
    • One author: (Smith, 2020)
    • Two authors: (Smith & Jones, 2021)
    • Three or more authors: (Smith et al., 2022)
  • If quoting directly, include the page number: (Smith, 2020, p. 25).

2.2 Formatting Quotations

  • Short quotations (fewer than 40 words): Incorporate into the text, use quotation marks.
  • Long quotations (40 words or more): Display as a block of text with a 0.5-inch indent, no quotation marks.

2.3 Abbreviations and Acronyms

  • Define abbreviations on first use (e.g., World Health Organization [WHO]).

2.4 Numbers

  • Spell out numbers zero through nine, use numerals for 10 and above.

3. Manuscript Submission Process

  • Manuscripts should be submitted via the official submission system of Academia Journal of Medicine.

3.2 Ethical Considerations

  • Authors must ensure that all research complies with ethical guidelines (e.g., patient confidentiality, research ethics approval).
